Ronovan Ottenbacher to discuss integrative medicine at Internal Medicine Grand Rounds on Sept. 18

For the next UND Department of Internal Medicine Grand Rounds on Wednesday, Sept. 18, Ronovan Ottenbacher, M.D., FACP, deputy chief health informatics officer (CHIO) and VA site director at Fargo VA Healthcare, will present “Integrative Medicine in Internal Medicine: Bringing the Patient and Joy back to the Center of Medicine.”

Upon completion of this program, the learner will be able to:

  1. Recognize integrative medicine conceptually and improve understanding of how it applies to internal medicine.
  2. Demonstrate communication techniques to make the patient the focus of medical care, including shared goals for what matters to the patient and what they want for their health.
  3. Identify the difference between disease-focused care and patient-centered care along the tenants of mission, aspiration, purpose, and/or mind, body, spirit.
