Holkup and Zorn pass APTA board specialty exams
A pair of faculty in the UND Department of Physical Therapy recently passed their board specialty exams via the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
Nick Holkup, P.T., D.P.T., is now a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in cardiovascular and pulmonary physical therapy.
Likewise, Jessica Zorn, P.T., D.P.T., is now a Board Certified Pediatric Specialist.
According to the APTA, the concept of specialization emerged in 1976 “when the APTA established a Task Force on Clinical Specialization.” In 1985, the APTA Specialty Panel on Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy was the first to complete the specialization process outlined by the task force, making the cardiopulmonary specialist certification examination the first administered APTA specialization exam. Since then, “nine additional specialty areas (clinical electrophysiology, geriatrics, neurology, oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics, sports, women’s health, and wound management physical therapy) have been established.”
Congratulations!
