Muhammed to discuss frontotemporal dementia at Psychiatry Grand Rounds on Oct. 15
Rihan Muhammed, M.D., will present “White matter, dark thoughts: The psychiatric face of frontotemporal dementia” from 12:10 to 1:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at UND’s Southeast Campus auditorium in Fargo. Dr. Muhammed is a second-year resident in the UND Psychiatry Residency Training Program. Susan Wood, Ph.D., LP, ABPP-CN, adjunct clinical professor in the UND Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Science and clinical neuropsychologist at Sanford Health in Fargo, will serve as Dr. Muhammed’s discussant.
Upon completion of this program, the learner will be able to:
- Recognize the early signs and symptoms of frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and different clinical subtypes.
- Describe how FTD can look like a psychiatric disorder.
- Discuss when to consider brain imaging and neuropsychiatric testing.
- Identify basic treatment approaches and emerging options.
