INMED, Shawnda Schroeder named 2026 Outstanding Rural Health Award recipients

The forthcoming Dakota Conference on Rural Health will feature the Outstanding Rural Health Awards Banquet to recognize North Dakota rural health advocates for their accomplishments.

Among this year’s winners are the UND Indians Into Medicine (INMED) program, which was named “Outstanding Rural Health Program,” and Dr. Shawnda Schroeder of the UNDĀ Department of Indigenous Health, who was named “Outstanding Rural Health Educator/Mentor.”

The awards banquet honoring these and other winners is slated for June 3 at 12:05 p.m. (Central) at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks, N.D.

Tickets for the awards banquet are included in conference registration and are $40 for those not registered for the conference. Registration is mandatory for those who wish to attend. For information on how to attend, visit the Dakota Conference on Rural Health attendees webpage.

The Dakota Conference allows healthcare professionals, educators, and students several days to share their strategies for sustaining healthy North Dakota communities, and offers workshops, keynote speakers, poster presentations, and an awards banquet, during which the awardees are celebrated. The annual event is a joint effort by the Altru Health System, the UND Center for Rural Health, the North Dakota Rural Health Association, and the UND College of Nursing and Professional Disciplines.
