Teaching, Learning, and Development (TLAS) invites undergraduate medical education (UME) program faculty and staff to attend a training session on Mentimeter<\/em> polling software. The session will take place on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, from noon to 1 p.m. CST<\/strong>. Join via Zoom (https:\/\/und.zoom.us\/j\/8327382880<\/a>); this session will be recorded for later viewing.<\/p>\n

For the past three years, M.D. program students have indicated that they would prefer lectures to be more interactive and high-yield experiences (\u201cactive learning\u201d). Similarly, M.D. program faculty have advocated for a replacement for Turning Point<\/em>, which became unusable a few years ago.<\/p>\n

The UME program recently acquired 80 licenses for Mentimeter, a robust polling solution that can be implemented live from the web, from within PowerPoint, directly within Zoom, and even asynchronously so that students can complete it any time.<\/p>\n

Mentimeter provides many polling options, allowing faculty to create interactive presentations and collect real-time student feedback in a variety of formats (i.e. aggregation of individual responses, brainstormed word clouds, quizzes, image map questions, and more) to check knowledge and promote engagement and allowing you to spark meaningful discussions, check for understanding, foster collaboration, and get results reported to you for later analysis.<\/p>\n

Join TLAS Facilitators Andrea Guthridge, Adrienne Salentiny, and Richard Van Eck, plus Mentimeter Facilitators Cameron Van der Valk and Diedre Sargent, to learn more about Mentimeter.<\/em> Create and manage polls, survey questions, and response options; analyze and interpret poll results; and troubleshoot common challenges. Facilitators will explain the settings and features of the software, recommended best practice workflows, and share how UME faculty can request their own paid license.<\/p>\n

Note:\u00a0Because UND was in the midst of reviewing polling options campus-wide, the M.D. program sought funding for a one-year contract. SMHS administrators hope that when the time for renewal comes next year, either a school-wide contract can be secured for Mentimeter or UND will have completed its purchase of another polling solution to accommodate all SMHS programs.<\/em><\/p>\n
