{"id":12962,"date":"2025-01-30T14:37:44","date_gmt":"2025-01-30T20:37:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.und.edu\/for-your-health\/?p=12962"},"modified":"2025-01-30T14:37:44","modified_gmt":"2025-01-30T20:37:44","slug":"und-to-honor-several-smhs-faculty-and-staff-at-annual-founders-day-banquet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.und.edu\/for-your-health\/2025\/01\/30\/und-to-honor-several-smhs-faculty-and-staff-at-annual-founders-day-banquet\/","title":{"rendered":"UND to honor several SMHS faculty and staff at annual Founders Day banquet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Several faculty and staff of the UND School of Medicine &amp; Health Sciences (SMHS) will be recognized at UND\u2019s 2025 <a href=\"https:\/\/campus.und.edu\/founders-day\/index.html\">Founders Day<\/a> banquet, to be held Thursday, Feb. 20, in the UND Memorial Union.<\/p>\n<p>Of particular note is that Dr. Archana Dhasarathy, associate professor in the School\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/med.und.edu\/education-training\/biomedical-sciences\/index.html\">Department of Biomedical Sciences<\/a>, will be honored by UND with the Outstanding Graduate Faculty Mentor Award. According to one of the nominations Dhasarathy received, the researcher is an \u201cexceptional\u201d mentor who \u201chas significantly contributed to my academic and professional growth.\u201d This is because, the nomination adds, Dhasarathy creates \u201ca supportive, inclusive, and motivating environment for students through her thoughtful actions and genuine commitment to their well-being.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations, Dr. Dhasarathy!<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Dhasarathy\u2019s award, four SMHS faculty and staff will be honored for 25 years-of-service to the University and another ten retirees will be recognized. The 14 SMHS employees to be honored for their service to the University include:<\/p>\n<p><strong>25 Year Honorees<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Jane Dunlevy, Department of Biomedical Sciences<\/li>\n<li>Jan Gunderson, Library Resources<\/li>\n<li>James Porter, Student Affairs &amp; Admissions<\/li>\n<li>Jacqueline Quisno, Bismarck Center for Family Medicine<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Retiring\/Retired Honorees <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Faye Aaker, Education Resources<\/li>\n<li>Jon Allen, SMHS Simulation Center<\/li>\n<li>Lisa Beehler, Bismarck Center for Family Medicine<\/li>\n<li>Bryon Grove, Department of Biomedical Sciences<\/li>\n<li>Brad Gibbens, Center for Rural Health<\/li>\n<li>Julie Horn, Department of Biomedical Sciences<\/li>\n<li>Donita Johnson, Bismarck Center for Family Medicine<\/li>\n<li>Terri Lannoye, Bismarck Center for Family Medicine<\/li>\n<li>Robert Sticca, Department of Surgery<\/li>\n<li>Laurie Young, Department of Biomedical Sciences<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Founders Day marks the anniversary of the signing of the Dakota Territory legislation establishing the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. It is the official birthday of UND.
