{"id":13848,"date":"2025-09-12T10:55:22","date_gmt":"2025-09-12T15:55:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.und.edu\/for-your-health\/?p=13848"},"modified":"2025-09-12T15:55:02","modified_gmt":"2025-09-12T20:55:02","slug":"jaramillo-villegas-to-discuss-eye-movement-desensitization-and-reprocessing-at-psychiatry-grand-rounds-sept-17","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.und.edu\/for-your-health\/2025\/09\/12\/jaramillo-villegas-to-discuss-eye-movement-desensitization-and-reprocessing-at-psychiatry-grand-rounds-sept-17\/","title":{"rendered":"Jaramillo-Villegas to discuss eye movement desensitization and reprocessing at Psychiatry Grand Rounds Sept. 17"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For the next Psychiatry Grand Rounds, to be held from 12:10 to 1:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at UND&#8217;s Southeast Campus Auditorium in Fargo, Dr. Mateo Jaramillo-Villegas will present &#8220;EMDR beyond PTSD: Evidence and implications for integration into clinical practice in psychiatry.\u201d Dr. Jaramillo-Villegas is a second-year resident in the UND Psychiatry Residency Training Program.<\/p>\n<p>Jo Ellison, Ph.D., ABPP, clinical assistant professor and director of psychotherapy training in the UND School of Medicine &amp; Health Sciences Psychiatry Residency Training Program in Fargo, and owner\/clinical psychologist at Ellison Mental Health Services, PLLC, will serve as Dr. Jaramillo-Villegas\u2019s discussant.<\/p>\n<p>Upon completion of this program, the learner will be able to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Outline the history of eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR).<\/li>\n<li>Recognize the mechanisms of EMDR.<\/li>\n<li>Explain the emerging evidence from recent years in other psychiatric disorders.<\/li>\n<li>Emphasize some limitations in clinical practice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This Grand Rounds presentation, sponsored by the UND School of Medicine &amp; Health Sciences and the School\u2019s Department of Psychiatry &amp; Behavioral Science, is broadcast via video conference to many sites throughout North Dakota and Minnesota and is also streamed via personal computers.
