Seventy-four middle and high school students from across North Dakota presented their research in the areas of biology, chemistry, engineering, environmental sciences, and the behavioral and social sciences, among other disciplines. Students in both the junior and senior divisions were named special award winners and overall top finishers. Senior students from each region and the state as a whole were selected as top finishers and will compete at the virtual\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.societyforscience.org\/isef\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Regeneron International Science &amp; Engineering Fair (ISEF)<\/a>\u00a0from May 3-6, 2021.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Special thanks to all the faculty, graduate students, and staff who helped judge the event and persevered through the virtual science fair platform!<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">To increase student participation in the event, fees are paid by the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ndinbre.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">North Dakota IDeA (Institutional Development Award) Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE)<\/a>, which is administered by the UND School of Medicine &amp; Health Sciences. The immediate goal of INBRE is to stimulate the development of science, technology, engineering, and math education by supporting the ability of all third- through twelfth-grade students who wish to participate and compete in their regional fairs and at the North Dakota State Science and Engineering Fair.
