{"id":1756,"date":"2026-01-21T12:18:06","date_gmt":"2026-01-21T18:18:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.und.edu\/grand-rounds\/?p=1756"},"modified":"2026-01-21T12:18:06","modified_gmt":"2026-01-21T18:18:06","slug":"fitness-membership-reimbursement-faq","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.und.edu\/grand-rounds\/2026\/01\/fitness-membership-reimbursement-faq\/","title":{"rendered":"Fitness membership reimbursement FAQ"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You asked questions about the student gym membership program and we answered!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who can participate?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Currently enrolled SMHS students rotating outside Grand Forks as part of their curriculum for 28 consecutive days or more.<\/li>\n<li>If the student is a parent and\/or spouse, reimbursement for a family membership will be prorated based on the number of family members included, unless the student provides an itemized receipt showing individual membership costs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What fitness programs are covered?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Gym or fitness center memberships or classes.<\/li>\n<li>Yoga, aerobics, tai chi, swimming\/water classes, or one-on-one personal training.<\/li>\n<li>Subscriptions for workout apps or online exercise programs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Location Restrictions: (only applies to gyms\/fitness centers, not online programs)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The program address must be in the city or rotation location, outside Grand Forks.<\/li>\n<li>Memberships at Grand Forks gyms during rotations elsewhere are not eligible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How much will I be reimbursed?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You will be reimbursed up to a maximum of $40 per month.<\/li>\n<li>Reimbursement cannot exceed the actual cost shown on your receipt.<\/li>\n<li>Any remaining unpaid portion on a receipt will not be reimbursed in the following month.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Reimbursement Timing<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reimbursement is for the period you spend outside Grand Forks.<\/li>\n<li>You can be reimbursed for past or currently paid services within the current fiscal year, but not advance payments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Submitting Requests<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Department\/programs may set specific details for the timing of submitting reimbursement requests (i.e., on a per semester basis, etc.).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Revised January 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If the Department\/program doesn\u2019t set a specific timeline for submitting requests, we recommend submitting a reimbursement request for a minimum of 3 months of expenses, with a maximum of 12 months, within the current fiscal year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What documents can I submit as proof of payment and activity?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A copy of your receipt, credit card statement, gym\/program document, or a combination showing proof of payment and program details.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Receipt requirements: The document or receipt must clearly show&#8211;<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Student name as a gym member (or subscriber) and payor.<\/li>\n<li>Gym\/program name and address.<\/li>\n<li>Amount paid.<\/li>\n<li>Invoice period.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You asked questions about the student gym membership program and we answered!
