Join us in welcoming our newest team members to the University of North Dakota!<\/h2>\n

This month, we\u2019re excited to introduce 19 new benefited employees who bring diverse skills, fresh perspectives, and a shared commitment to excellence.<\/p>\n

HIGHLIGHTED HAWKS<\/span><\/h3>\n

To help you get to know them better, many of our new Hawks at Work have shared short introductions.<\/span><\/h4>\n
Paige Fladland<\/h5>\n

Paige became an Admissions Representative for the Division of Academic Affairs & Provost in University Admissions on May 1, 2025 . She brings a Bachelor’s degree in Arts and a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership to her new role. She is originally from Cedar Lake, IN, which is in the northwest of the state. Paige is an avid traveler, and loves visiting National Parks. Her favorite place she has been is Utah, and she hopes to go to Rome in the future.<\/p>\n

Savannah Patton<\/h5>\n

Savannah began as an Administrative Assistant for the School of Medicine & Health Sciences in the Dean’s Office on May 1, 2025. She brings previous experience from her role in her hometown’s community college payroll office. Originally from Victorville, California, Savannah wrote she is excited for the changes and challenges of starting her new role at UND and integrating herself into the Grand Forks community.<\/p>\n

“I’ve learned that you often have to leave your comfort zone in order for growth to take place.”<\/h5>\n
Crystal Nelson-Pilon<\/h5>\n

Crystal became a Animal Lab Technician for the Division of\u00a0 Research & Economic in the Development Center for Biomedical Research on May 5, 2025. She is interested in making a difference. She’s previously worked for an animal hospital, nursing home, and group home.\u00a0 She shared she worked for many years at the local El Roco bottle shop, an institution that ran for 69 years, before it closed in 2021.<\/p>\n

Angel Rai<\/h5>\n

Angel started as a Academic Custodian for the Division of Finance & Operations in Facilities Management – Custodial\/Maintenance on May 8, 2025. She shared she has always had a good experience working in similar positions, as she always makes friends. She is looking forward to ensuring campus is well taken care of.<\/p>\n

Frank Pokryzwinski<\/h5>\n

Frank began as a Academic Custodian for the Division of Finance & Operations in Facilities Management – Custodial\/Maintenance on May 8, 2025. He brings two decades of experience from the maintenance world – from plubming, carpentry, and electrical repairs, he’s done it all. He most recently works for the Grand Forks County and shared he takes pride in his work and enjoys staying busy.<\/p>\n

“Being part of the UND campus community is exciting, and I’m eager to contribute to keeping the facilities running smoothly.”<\/h5>\n
Tanzim Jim Hassan<\/h5>\n

Tanzim became a Cybersecurity Research Engineer I for the Division of Academic Affairs & Provost for the CEM Research Institute on May 12, 2025. He brings extensive experience, having lectured at Bangladesh’s United College of Aviation Science & Management and worked as an engineer in various roles. He most recently worked for UND, as both a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Graduate Research Assistant. He bring a Bachelor’s of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from the Military Institute of Science and Technology in Bangladesh, a Master’s of Science in Electrical Engineering from UND, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D in Electrical Engineering from UND.<\/p>\n

Justine Fourie<\/h5>\n

Justine started as an Academic Advisor for the Division of Academic Affairs & Provost in AVP Student Success on May 12, 2025. She previously worked as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for the Texas Workforce Commission to assistant individuals with disability to assist them in obtaining and maintaining employment, a continuation of her work from when she was a Graduate Assistant at the Disability Support Services Office for Texas A&M University- San Antonio. She has attained a Master’s degree in Counseling, focusing on Mental Health. while completing my master’s in counseling, mental health track. She felt drawn to her UND role as she wanted to work in higher education again.<\/p>\n

Joey Mendel<\/h5>\n

Joey began as a Unmanned Aircraft System Operations Specialist for the Division of Research & Economic Development for the Northern Plains UAS Test Site on May 16, 2025. He brings prior experience from an internship with iSight, which allowed him to learn the benefits and operations of drones. He is looking forward to the projects in store for his role this summer.<\/p>\n

Shawn Sullivan<\/h5>\n

Shawn became the Operations Center Specialist for the Division of Finance & Operations in the Office of Emergency Management on May 27, 2025. He brings previous work experience to the role, having served as a firefighter in the Air Force, a Fire Chief for department of defense and worked in property management with GSA.<\/p>\n

“I was drawn to this position because the job description described my resume and what I was looking to do.”<\/h5>\n
Ace Giannonatti<\/h5>\n

Ace Giannonatti (right)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Ace started as the Care & Conduct Coordinator for the Division of Student Affairs in the Community Standards & Care Network on May 28, 2025. He brings prior experience having worked as\u00a0 \u00a0a student services representative and resident assistant at Miles Community College in Miles City, Montana.\u00a0 He is currently pursuing his Master’s of Art in Education, having attained a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education from UND.\u00a0 Ace shared he’s looking forward to working for a larger University and rejoining the higher education system after working in elementary and high school settings for the past few years.<\/p>\n

Phur Sherpa<\/h5>\n

Phur started as a Academic Custodian for the Division of Finance & Operations in Facilities Management – Custodial\/Maintenance on May 20, 2025. Phur shared she is looking forward to being a part of UND, and working hard in her role.<\/p>\n

Kade Langowski<\/h5>\n

Kade started in his role of Dishwasher Student Affairs for Dining Residence on May 21, 2025. He stated he’s looking forward to working within higher education and being on campus, as well as meeting and working with new and different people.<\/p>\n

In addition to our highlighted Hawks at Work, we\u2019re pleased to introduce the rest of our new employees who\u2019ve joined campus this month.<\/h2>\n

Each of them is a valuable addition, and we\u2019re excited to see the positive contributions they\u2019ll make!<\/p>\n
