New Faculty Member, Dr. Jared Marquis

Atmospheric Sciences is pleased to announce our newest Assistant Professor, Dr. Jared Marquis. Jared recently earned his PhD in Atmospheric Sciences at UND and already has several years of instructing experience at UND and Sitting Bull College on the Standing Rock Reservation in North Dakota. Jared’s teaching focus at UND will include Synoptic Meteorology (ATSC-411) and Introduction to Forecasting (ATSC-310). For fall 2021, he will also be teaching the graduate-level course: Hydrometeorology (ATSC-530). He will also lead Atmospheric Science’s new Combined Degree Program where undergraduates can earn a master’s degree in one additional year. Jared’s research focus is around satellite remote sensing and infrared radiance assimilation. He is also interested in related research topics, including cloud physics, radar, and numerical weather prediction. Jared’s hobbies include watching and playing sports, and playing with his two dogs. We are delighted that Jared has chosen to join our dedicated team of professors in Atmospheric Sciences!
