Aviation Mental Health and Wellbeing
A message from Dr. Nicholas Wilson, Aviation Department Associate Chair and Professor.
The John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences is providing an additional resource for students, staff, and faculty related to wellness and support of aviation mental health.
Adapted from similar tools and resources used in the industry, and funded through the John Hauser Memorial fund, the college has created an aviation wellness and mental health card. The card was created though the collaborative efforts of several individuals in the college with the intention of increasing access to and awareness of a variety of support resources available to students.

The card includes resources such as the IMSAFE checklist, a QR-code linking to the UND Counseling Center, a list of common mental health warning signs, and several resources available to students for wellness and mental health, including peer support.

Mental Health Warning Signs
- Difficulty sleeping
- Appetite changes & weight fluctuations
- Struggling to get out of bed
- Difficulty concentrating
- Loss of interest in things you usually find enjoyable
- Unable to perform usual daily functions and responsibilities
- Thoughts of death or self-harm

The badge is designed to fit within a current airport ID badge holder, however, can be attached and worn on its own lanyard or kept within a wallet or purse.
