ND NASA EPSCoR Request for NOIs & Pre-Proposals | NASA EPSCoR NOFO CAN

Overview:

ND NASA EPSCoR NOFO CAN Fall 2026 RFP

 

In anticipation of the upcoming solicitation: Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) Basic Research FY 2026, (solicitation number not yet known), North Dakota NASA EPSCoR is soliciting NOIs and pre-proposals from faculty at affiliate institutions specifically designed to promote and expand NASA research in North Dakota. Following preliminary proposal selection by ND NASA EPSCoR, the selected pre-proposal team(s) will work directly with the ND NASA EPSCoR office to submit a full proposal to NASA via NSPIRES.

The purpose of the ND NASA EPSCoR program is to promote, develop, and expand NASA research in North Dakota aligned with NASA priorities and Mission Directorates.

Refer to the previous NASA EPSCoR NOFO for reference prior to the expected 9.1.26 release date of the FY26 solicitation.

Up to two pre-proposal will be selected to move forward as full proposals from ND for funding consideration by NASA. Awards will be made for 3-year POPs and will be alloted up to $750,000 per award. The ND NASA EPSCoR jurisdiction Director (Dr. Caitlin Milera) will serve as the PI on the ND proposal. Faculty proposers will serve as Sci-Is.

NOIs due: Noon, Aug. 27, 2026

Pre-Proposals due: Noon, Sept. 24, 2026

~Notice Sent to Selected Pre-proposals: ~Oct. 15, 2026

Full Proposals due to ND NASA EPSCoR: Nov. 16, 2026

Full Proposals due to NASA: Nov. 24, 2026

*Note: NASA expects to release the full solicitation Sept. 1, 2026. If there are any delays at the agency, this RFP timeline may be affected.

Eligibility:

  • Faculty Sci-I must be from an ND NASA EPSCoR affiliate institution
    • Note: ND NASA EPSCoR Director serves as PI for all ND NASA EPSCoR CAN awards.
  • Research must be in STEM (science, technology, engineering, or mathematics) and demonstrate alignment with NASA priorities and one or more NASA Mission Directorates.
  • Review the full RFP for all requirements for funding consideration.

  • This guide book includes research focus areas
  • Proposals are not required to be submitted towards a specific research focus area
  • All proposals are required to demonstrate relevance, alignment, and impact towards NASA priorities regardless of topics

Note: Any planned collaborations are not required at the NOI stage, but should be described at the pre-proposal stage.
