Drs. Xiquan Dong and Baike Xi, Department of Atmospheric Sciences, have received a new award from NASA to validate the NASA satellite cloud and radiation retrievals using ground-based observations. This is a 2-yr award with a total of $257K from March 2008 to March 2010.

Dr. Jianglong Zhang, an Assistant Professor with the Department of Atmospheric Sciences, has received a $74,844 grant award from the Office of Naval Research to develop an operational aerosol data assimilation package. This research is aimed at improving aerosol and visibility forecasts through the combined use of satellite observations and numerical models.
