The Fall 2010 Brown Bag Seminar Series continues on Wednesday, October 6th at the Space Studies library at noon.\u00a0 Space Studies graduate student Inga Wuerges will give a presentation about her thesis project “Panic Development Mechanisms and Preventive Methods Analysis”<\/p>\n

Panic Development Mechanisms and Preventive Methods Analysis<\/strong><\/p>\n Panic Development (PD) is one of the most serious areas of investigation due to such debilitating effects on human performance during high stress situations in extreme environments.\u00a0 Panic invoked incidents are a real threat and can bring fatal consequences.\u00a0 However, this research area is one of the least explored due to severe restrictions on experimentation with human test subjects.\u00a0 Human Space Exploration ushered a new era for high stress environments and the need for properly tailored training programs became evident.\u00a0 Human integration with complicated Space Shuttle systems and staggering amounts of visual and auditory presentations at a moment\u2019s notice can be severely overwhelming for improperly trained astronaut.\u00a0 A delicate issue of crew selection for cramped environment while aboard of space vehicle or an unexpected possibility for a solitary stay on an alien planet can become an instant success or failure during high stress situation.\u00a0 Both areas of consideration will impact an overall Situational Awareness (SA) that ultimately determines an ability to recognize and control panic while accurately executing required mission protocols.<\/p>\n Suggested research will be focused on precisely targeted military training program at Survival School Spokane AFB, WA.\u00a0 Based on theoretical considerations and preliminary statistical data analysis the questionnaire will be developed with a focus on how realistic training techniques improve an ability to deal with specific situations.\u00a0 Once the data obtained from survey is analyzed, the improved mathematical modeling and following from these modeling recommendations will aid in future astronaut training program development.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The Fall 2010 Brown Bag Seminar Series continues on Wednesday, October 6th at the Space Studies library at noon.\u00a0 Space Studies graduate student Inga Wuerges will give a presentation about her thesis project “Panic Development Mechanisms and Preventive Methods Analysis” Lunch will be provided.
