SMHS to offer USMLE Step testing online

Attention medical students: UND SMHS is now approved to administer the USMLE step I and step II exams by the NBME “event testing” program online.

This shift is an attempt to compensate for the loss of testing availability options over the past few months due to COVID, and may inaugurate a significant change in way ours and other medical schools do manage Step testing going forward.

“This adaptation is an important new option for our students, and a great attempt to compensate for some of the problems our students have faced because of COVID-related restrictions on other testing options,” said Dr. Marc Basson, senior associate dean of Medicine and Research at the SMHS. “I would like to acknowledge all of the hard work that Dr. Patrick Carr, Dr. Minnie Kalyanasundaram and SMHS Chief Information Officer Nasser Hammami from our Information Resources Department have put in to making this happen.”
