Alleva’s Article Recognized as One of the Best Legal Education Articles for 2016

Our very own Patti Alleva, Rodney & Betty Webb Professor of Law, made the TaxProf Blog list of best legal education articles for 2016 with Learning Intentionally and the Metacognitive Task, an article she co-authored with law professor Jennifer A. Gundlach of Hofstra University. It appeared in the Journal of Legal Education, a publication of the Association of American Law Schools.

Learning Intentionally and the Metacognitive Task explores the value of learning about learning in the law school curriculum and urges law schools to “show more institutional respect for learning as a subject worthy of independent attention” and for “the process of learning as an end in itself.” The article also discusses the importance of metacognition to self-regulated learning and its benefits to professional development.
