North Dakota Total Tax Collections (April 2026)
As part of our ongoing analysis of the North Dakota economy we are committed to providing visuals, forecasts, and projections of potential interest to the public. Fiscal matters at the state and federal level are a frequent area of concern and so we thought to start with some information on tax collections in North Dakota.
Total tax collections in the state for the most recent biennium (2025-2027) are decidedly middle of the most pack compared to recent biennia. The cumulative total collections does seem to follow a similar track to earlier periods despite the lower level.

We also make an adjustment to this for inflation. We set the base period to July of 2011 because that is the first date in our current sample. There is a notable difference after this adjustment.

In inflation adjusted terms (also called real) the 2025-2027 biennial cumulative tax collections are the lowest for any of the last eight biennia. We will engage in some projections going forward as well as keep updating the current amounts as new data releases become available.
