Chris Erwin receives Certified Business Advisor certification

GRAND FORKS – North Dakota Small Business Development Centers is pleased to announce that Chris Erwin, a business advisor at the Fargo/Southeast Center, has earned the Certified Business Advisor designation from Kent State University.

The CBA® is a nationally recognized credential that demonstrates a high level of proficiency in small business advising. The program is designed for professionals who provide business advice to entrepreneurs and small business owners, covering a variety of topics, including financial analysis, marketing, and business strategy.

“Certifications like the CBA are important to our network. The knowledge and skills that Chris gained through this program will enhance the high level of service he already provides to his clients.” said Paul Smith, Fargo/Southeast Center director. “Our region benefits from having a lifelong learner like Chris as part of the ND SBDC.”

Erwin joined the ND SBDC in January 2022 and has quickly become a valuable member of the team. He brings a wealth of experience in various industries, including technology, hospitality, and rural economic development. In addition to his CBA designation, Erwin holds an MBA, an MSML, and an undergraduate degree in marketing.

“Chris showed incredible persistence and determination while progressing through each of the certification’s modules,” said Tiffany Ford, ND SBDC state director. “The CBA program is a rigorous curriculum covering various topics that are fundamental to business development. The ND SBDC network prides itself on each of our staff having this certification, showing a commitment to our clients that we will provide them with services and knowledge that meet the highest quality standards. We are proud to add Chris to the roster of our network staff with this accomplishment!”

The ND SBDC is a statewide outreach program of the Center for Business Engagement & Development within the Nistler College of Business & Public Administration at the University of North Dakota. Since its inception in 1986, the ND SBDC network has helped business owners and entrepreneurs start, manage, and grow their small businesses through confidential, individualized, professional business advising and training workshops. Services are provided at no-cost to clients thanks to funding from the U.S. Small Business Administration, ND Department of Commerce, and local supporters across the state.
