UND Students work to solve problems for local companies and beyond
What: UND College of Engineering & Mines Senior Design Expo. Members of the campus, Grand Forks and business communities are welcome to attend and interact with students about their projects.

Background: The UND College of Engineering & Mines (CEM) will hold its Senior Design Expo from noon to 3 p.m. on April 29, and interested members of the campus and surrounding communities are welcome to attend, to learn about student projects.
The annual Expo is a showcase of student projects from different areas across Engineering, Computer Science and Geology. Many of the student research projects are sponsored by regional industry members. Students work to solve real-world problems and gain valuable, hands-on experience in the fields they will soon enter.
Industry members are encouraged to attend the Expo to interact with students who will soon be joining the workforce.
“I am really looking forward to showcasing the talents of our CEM students and how they’ve interacted with local industry on research being conducted at UND, and the impact of that research on our state and region,” said William Semke, associate dean for academic affairs in the CEM. “We also want to make industry members aware that there are many opportunities to collaborate with UND.”
Attendees of the event can participate as well, by voting for what they think is the most interesting project. Following a brief welcome and greeting speech at noon, public viewing and voting on the projects will take place until 2 p.m. The Expo will conclude after an awards presentation at 2:30 p.m.
Complimentary parking is available on levels Four and Five of the ramp located at the intersection of University Avenue and North Columbia Road.
