UND summer commencement ceremony set for Aug. 8

The University of North Dakota will hold its summer commencement ceremony starting at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, at the Chester Fritz Performing Arts Center.
Eligible to receive degrees are 534 students in what will be UND’s 104th Summer Commencement.
Ryan Zerr, professor and chair of the Department of Mathematics & Statistics in the College of Arts & Sciences, will be the ceremony’s guest speaker. UND President Andrew Armacost will preside.
The ceremonies will be livestreamed at UND.edu and UND’s Facebook page.
About Ryan Zerr, professor and chair of Mathematics & Statistics
Ryan Zerr is a professor in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics at the University of North Dakota, where he also serves as department chair.
He began his career at UND in 2003 after earning a Ph.D. in mathematics from Iowa State University and has had the honor of serving in several capacities across campus, including his current role as associate vice president for Strategy & Implementation.
As associate vice president, appointed by UND President Andrew Armacost, Zerr serves as the chief administrator charged with implementing, tracking and reporting the University’s progress in its UND LEADS Strategic Plan.
Zerr teaches a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses with research interests such as mathematical and functional analysis, dynamical systems and data science/machine learning.
He is also a two-time UND graduate, earning a B.S. in Meteorological Studies and an M.S. in Mathematics in 1996 and 1998.
