Bridport, Vt., native named University of North Dakota’s Certified Flight Instructor of the Month

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Michael Huber, a University of North Dakota graduate and certified flight instructor from Bridport, Vt., was named UND’s Certified Flight Instructor of the Month for February.
A certified flight instructor is a pilot who has been trained in how to teach people how to fly. Flight instructors take students up in an aircraft and do much of their teaching in the cockpit.
As part of the Certified Flight Instructor of the Month selection process, students of the CFIs are invited to submit nominations. “Micheal has been an amazing instructor for me, answering any and every question I have,” wrote one of Huber’s students.
“He has also provided me with great feedback on the things I am doing well at and the things I need to work on. He is able to put himself in my shoes when instructing, which really helps me understand what I am doing wrong and how to fix it.”
Huber is a graduate of Middlebury Union High School in Middlebury, Vt. At UND, he majored in Commercial Aviation and graduated in 2024 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautics.
He holds Certified Flight Instructor and Certified Flight Instrument Instructor ratings.
In 2023, Huber worked as a flight operations intern at United Airlines in Dulles, Va., an experience that convinced him to pursue a commercial-airlines career.
While instructing at UND, Huber also works as a Supervisor of Flight and represents Republic Airways’ Cadet Program as a Campus Ambassador. He looks forward to beginning training with Republic upon completion of his R-ATP minimums.
In the meantime, he continues to enjoy meeting and teaching new students as they continue on their aviation journeys.
