Graduate Program Update

An archway shaped outdoor UND sign.

Our online Master’s program continues to grow! This spring one of our graduate students, Bethanie Parker, did an excellent job presenting at the Midwest Sociological Society’s Annual Meeting in St. Louis, Missouri. Her presentation titled, “American Literature, Sociological Perspectives and Historical Trauma: A Lesson in Caring” described her time teaching in secondary education and her efforts to help students develop a sociological perspective when analyzing texts and historical and contemporary events. In addition, this spring one of our other graduate students, Grace Jackson, was awarded the Ina Montgomery Scholarship for her academic excellence in our program. We have several new students admitted for Fall 2026 and expect to see more applications roll in over the summer. We would love to continue growing our program, so if you know of anyone who is interested in pursuing a Master’s degree in Sociology at UND, send them to Dr. Justin Berg,  who is serving as the graduate program director (701-777-4987 or justin.allen.berg@und.edu) starting August 17, 2026.
