Wellness Center Invites Students, Public to Ski UND

Students and the community can join UND President Robert Kelley and First Lady Marcia Kelley in emulating the athletes of the 2010 Winter Olympics during “Ski UND” throughout February.

The UND Wellness Center is collaborating with campus and community members to create a temporary cross-country ski trail and hold various events from Feb. 1 through the end of the month – weather permitting. The ski route is located just west of the Wellness Center on a portion of the bike path along the English Coulee between 6th Avenue North and Gateway Drive.

“Ski UND” officially kicks off Monday, Feb. 1, at 4 p.m. with opening ceremonies at the Wellness Center. There will be snacks, hot chocolate and prizes for those who come early. The goal is to encourage students and the community to participate in physical activity, and to have fun outdoors doing it.

On Feb. 10 from 3:30-4:30 p.m., “Ski with the Kelleys” will be held with the University’s president and first lady. Hot chocolate will be served after the event.

Anyone with a UND ID can check out ski equipment at the Wellness Center at no cost. Equipment is available on a first-come, first-served basis. For those who have never skied, the Center will hold 10-minute clinics in cross-country skiing. These sessions are free of charge to those with UND IDs.
