Remembering Caryl Pederson
Caryl Anne Pederson, retired staff member at the former Computer Center, Sparta, Wisc., passed away on May 18, 2020. She was born to L. Orwell and Nina M. (Marchildon) Holmberg of Cummings, N.D., on Feb. 1, 1943, in Grand Forks.
Caryl attended Ervin # 4 country school through 8th grade and graduated from Climax High School, Climax, Minn., in 1961.
After a course in Keypunching, she worked for the Grand Forks Herald for a short period. She was one of the first people hired at the newly developed computer department at UND. She retired after over 46 years.
Caryl married Bryan Pederson on Nov. 9, 1963. Their daughter, Camilla was born in 1966.
After retiring in 2009, Bryan and Caryl moved to Sparta, Wisc..
Caryl enjoyed volunteering, cats, crocheting, sewing, going to the lakes, crossword puzzles, and an annual trip to Medora, ND.
She is survived by her husband, Bryan, Sparta; and daughter, Camilla of Bloomington, MN; brother, Ray Holmberg, Grand Forks; sister, Ginny Knudtson, West Fargo, ND and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents and brother, Leslie Holmberg.
