Nominations Invited for Founders Day Departmental Research Award

Nominations are invited for The UND Award for Departmental Excellence in Research and Creative Activity recognizing research, scholarly, and creative productivity. The winning department will be recognized at the Founders Day Banquet on Thursday, February 17, 2022.  Nominations should include information that will allow the selection committee to judge the quantity and quality of the research, scholarly, and creative activities of the department.  At a minimum, such nominations should include:

  1. A three-page summary stating the rationale for why the department deserves this award.
  2. A statement of support from the dean.

As part of the evaluation process, the selection committee will also review scholarly and creative activities recorded in Digital Measures and, if relevant, data on external awards and expenditures.

Nominations are due no later than FRIDAY, DECEMBER 31, 2021.  The nomination and supporting documentation must be submitted electronically as a SINGLE PDF file to vpr@UND.edu. Please use the following format for the file name: departmentname.pdf.

The awardee will be selected by the Interim Vice President for Research & Economic Development (chair) and selected others.

Since previous recipients are ineligible for nomination until five years have passed, Economics & Finance (2021), Chemical Engineering (2020), the Energy & Environmental Research Center (2019), Biomedical Sciences and Marketing (2018), Chemistry (2017), may not be nominated this year.

If further information is desired, please contact the Office of the Vice President for Research & Economic Development at 777-6736 or go to the Founders Day Research Awards website at https://und.edu/research/about/research-awards.html.
