UND will test new technology that will “lock down” certain buildings on campus at 3:50 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 17.

This exercise is vital to ensure that the University is prepared for an actual emergency in which the campus community would be asked to shelter in place.

During this test, all electronic doors will be locked. Those with electronic door access to buildings will still be able to access their offices and buildings. You may also leave the building during the drill.

Once all doors on campus are locked, they must be manually unlocked. This is expected to take between 20 and 40 minutes. It is expected to be minimally disruptive to campus. The goal is to ensure that the physical locking mechanisms function properly, and to ensure the safety of the campus community during an emergency.

The UND Department of Public Safety thanks you for your cooperation.
