Alyssa La Deaux named Student Employee Supervisor of the Year

Student Employment is pleased to recognize Alyssa La Deaux as the UND 2022 Student Employee Supervisor of the Year. This award was established to recognize the impact student employee supervisors have on the development of our students and community.

Nominations are judged based on how a nominee mentors students, and acts as an example of professionalism and leadership for UND’s student employee community. Alyssa was recognized by two different nominators, both of whom have worked closely with her over the past year and wanted to shine a light on the impact she has had on UND and the community. Her nomination was selected by the Student Employment Supervisor of the Year Committee from several glowing nominations.

Alex Kroke, one of Alyssa’s nominators and the Assistant Director of Marketing Strategy, gave a glowing nomination for her, speaking to the support and guidance Alyssa has provided students over the years: “…[I]n all cases, she tries to give student employees meaningful work they can put on their resume after graduating and trusts them to try and make mistakes. She takes the time to teach them what it takes to be successful and then helps guide them to it.”

The Director of Marketing & Creative Strategy, Jennifer Swangler, added to her nomination of Alyssa: “Alyssa provides her students with invaluable experiences to help them learn the ins and outs of a marketing professional. She puts a lot of hard work and effort into their student experiences, by giving them clear expectations, strong training, and every opportunity to learn and succeed. Her students know she cares about them and are very loyal to her in return.”

Alyssa was UND’s Marketing Coordinator for the Office of Marketing & Creative Services. After three years of supervising and working in this role, she has moved on from UND to continue growing her career and accepted a new position outside the University. Her transition is a loss to the Student Employment program, but her impact will be remembered by the students she mentored during her time at UND.

The University of North Dakota, in conjunction with the Midwest Association of Student Employment Administrators, coordinates the award. The goal of this program is to celebrate and recognize the impact supervisors have on student employees. Alyssa’s nomination has been submitted to the regional level for consideration.

Please join us in celebrating and congratulating Alyssa on her achievement. Our community is grateful to have her display of commitment and mentorship to UND’s student workers. Alyssa’s name will be added to the Student Employee Supervisor of the Year plaque on display in within Human Resources and she will receive the Student Employee Supervisor of the Year trophy in recognition of her commitment to UND’s students.
