UND to extend Vice President for Student Affairs search

UND President Andrew Armacost announced today that he would like the national search for the next Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA) to continue, following recent campus visits by two finalists for the position.

Armacost notified members of the Division of Student Affairs recently about his decision. He also shared his decision with VPSA search chairperson Vice President for Marketing & Communications Meloney Linder, the search committee, and search consultants.

The visits by the two finalists included broad interactions across the campus with students, faculty, and staff. A third finalist withdrew from consideration before the campus visit due to a family medical matter.

“This is a critical position because it directly impacts students and their experience at UND. It’s imperative that we get it right,” Armacost said. “The search committee has been focused on identifying the best candidates for this position, and their advice and recommendations have been essential throughout this process. I have asked Vice President Linder to continue the search process for our next student affairs leader, who would keep students central in all decisions, encourage and foster academic and personal success, and enrich the student experience at UND.”

The successful candidate would take over leadership of the Division of Student Affairs from Interim Vice President for Student Affairs Beth Hellwig, who has been at the helm since October 2021. Armacost said that he is thrilled that Hellwig has agreed to continue as interim VPSA role through January 2023.
