UND departments asked to leave COVID-19 protective equipment in place

While the rate of COVID-19 activity may be relatively low in Grand Forks County and across the state, the University of North Dakota would like to remind departments and units to refrain from dismantling Plexiglas and other protective equipment that was installed in shared public spaces as part of the University’s pandemic response for the time being.

Shared public spaces may include but are not limited to departmental/unit reception areas, classrooms, lab spaces, meeting rooms, residence hall common areas, dining facilities, and recreation and wellness facilities, etc.

If protective equipment, such as Plexiglas, has already been removed from a space, designated department representatives are encouraged to contact Kevin Fruhwirth, associate director of facility maintenance with UND Facilities, at kevin.fruhwirth@UND.edu, for assistance. Kevin and team will work with those units to ensure that the protective equipment is properly labeled and stored, so that it can be re-installed rapidly in the future if needed.

As always, the University’s COVID-19 mitigation response will continue to be informed by local pandemic conditions. University leaders will continue to monitor local, regional and State health data throughout the summer, with the hope of making a decision on the need for Plexiglas and other protective equipment before the start of the Fall 2022 semester.
