UND Dining Services wins Gold Award for catering menu

The catering menu for UND Dining Services won a Gold Award from their professional association.

The online-accessible menu was created and released in 2020 under the guidance of Catering Manager Andrea Green and Catering Sales Coordinator, Beth Spitsberg, both pictured above. The menu was designed by the Marketing Manager for Dining Services and Housing & Residence Life, Mark Maliskey. View the online menu at UND.edu/catering.

Award submissions for the Catering – Online Menu were reviewed by a panel of six judges on the creativity of design and style, menu variety and selection options, food allergy and special dietary preferences, and service options. Judge’s comments included, “Menu looks great! Nice variety of choices, pictures show amazing dishes,” and, “Love the overall organization, design, and menu choices!”

The award was announced in April by the National Association of College & University Food Services, where UND won Gold in the Catering-Online Menu category for the prestigious Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards. Grand prize winners will be announced at the national conference in Spokane in July.

“The Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards are the ultimate professional tribute in college and university culinary arts,” said the Association in a press release. “The award, named after a National Association of College & University Food Services founder, past president, and highly regarded innovator, celebrates exemplary menus, presentations, special event planning, and new dining concepts. We celebrate the innovative ideas and successful implementation of these programs.”
