Remembering Marvelyn Bohach

Marvelyn Bohach, retired UND Aerospace staff member, of Grand Forks, N.D., passed away on Nov. 7, 2022.

Marvelyn was born June 18, 1937, in Veblen, S.D., the daughter of Ray & Ellen (Hilleson) Ives. She grew up near Veblen, baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. She graduated from Veblen High School in 1955 and Northern State Teacher’s College in Aberdeen, S.D. in 1957.

Marvelyn married Dennis Anderson in Veblen, on Oct. 19, 1957. She lived in Minnesota and for many years in Grafton, N.D. She was Walsh County Deputy Treasurer over 14 years and moved to Grand Forks in 1981 after her children were raised. She married Harland Bohach, in Grand Forks, on Nov. 23, 1985, at Sharon Lutheran Church. Marvelyn was employed at the University of North Dakota from 1981 to 2002 and retired from UND Aerospace. She enjoyed her retirement a great deal with her love of golf, card group, bunco group and Friday luncheon group. Her children and grandchildren were so special to her. She always enjoyed her family and was surrounded by her many friends.

She is survived by her son Scott Anderson, East Grand Forks, Minn., daughter Denise (Pat) Briscoe, Oakley, Calif., three beautiful grandchildren (Kimberly Briscoe, Paige Anderson, and Ian Anderson). Sister Olive (Roger) Grimsrud and brother Darwin (Sheila) Ives, brother-in-law Leo Spindler, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harland of 30 years, toddler grandson Patrick R. Briscoe, Jr., her parents, sister Ardelle, and brother-in-law Arden Bohach.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Nov. 14, 2022, at Sharon Lutheran Church, 1720 20th St. S, Grand Forks, N.D. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the start of the service at the church. Interment will be Memorial Park North Cemetery. An online register book may be signed at www.amundsonfuneralhome.com
