University of North Dakota Wind Ensemble Concert is Nov. 29

The University of North Dakota Wind Ensemble will present their final concert of 2022 on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 7:30 p.m. Featured artists for this concert will be UND senior music majors and flutists Katie Cermak, Alexandra Funk, and Gina Tietz. The performance will be held at the Chester Fritz Auditorium and is free and open to the public.

The concert will also be livestreamed on the UND Music website.

The Wind Ensemble, conducted by James Popejoy, will feature performances of such classic band repertoire as Henry Fillmore’s “Rolling Thunder” and “Light Cavalry Overture” by Franz von Suppe. Contemporary works on the program include “Noisy Wheels of Joy” by Eric Whitacre, and Philip Sparke’s exciting suite, “The Seasons.”

Katie Cermak, Alexandra Funk, and Gina Tietz will combine to present a unique trio performance of the classic “Concertino for Flute and Band” by Cecile Chaminade. Graduate conductor Juanita Caballero Casas will lead the ensemble in a performance of Gustav Holst’s monumental “First Suite in Eb.”
