Announcing the winners of UND’s 8th Annual Three Minute Thesis competition
The School of Graduate Studies is pleased to announce the winners of the 8th Annual 3MT (Three Minute Thesis) competition that was held Wednesday, Jan. 31, at the Memorial Union.
Congratulations to: Temitayo Ikuerowo, masters student in Energy Engineering, for winning first place for her presentation titled “The Future of EVs is LESS COBALT!;” to Kaden Bollinger, masters student in Forensic Psychology, for winning second place for his presentation titled “Effects of Feedback on Eyewitness Accuracy;” and to third place winner Sarah Daman, masters student in Biology, for her presentation “Predicting Disease Spread in Deer.” All three students received cash prizes for placing in the competition.
Temitayo Ikuerowo, our first-place winner, will move on to the regional 3MT competition hosted by the Western Association of Graduate Schools (WAGS) at their annual meeting, “Elevating Excellence,” which will be held virtually March 20-22 with the competition taking place March 22. More information about the regional competition can be found on the conference agenda.
We’d also like to give special recognition to the three students who were judged in the top two of their preliminary rounds and competed in the final round of the competition: Mansurat Abdulmalik Ali, doctoral student in Environmental Engineering, Glavic Tikeri, masters student in Chemical Engineering and Jacob Haugen, doctoral student in Biomedical Sciences.
Finally, we’d like to give a big shout-out and congratulations to all of the outstanding graduate students who worked hard preparing their 3MT talks and participated in our eighth annual competition. All of these students are excellent representatives of the high quality and talent of and within our graduate programs; we also commend their respective advisors for preparing and mentoring these students and their graduate program directors for nominating them!
