Gordon about Benjamin B. Ferencz<\/strong><\/a>, who at age 27 served as chief prosecutor in the Nuremberg Einsatzgruppen trial \u2014 described at the time as \u201cthe biggest murder trial in history.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The lecture will be hosted at the School of Law&#8217;s Gerald W. VandeWalle Courtroom from noon to 1 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Gordon will discuss Ferencz\u2019s role in modern international criminal justice \u2014 from investigating and prosecuting Nazi war crimes after World War II to helping establish the International Criminal Court and securing restitution for Holocaust survivors.<\/p>\n<p>The lecture will draw on Gordon\u2019s research and unprecedented access to Ferencz\u2019s personal papers, as detailed in his 2025 book, \u201cNuremberg\u2019s Citizen Prosecutor: Benjamin Ferencz and the Birth of International Justice\u201d (University of Virginia Press).<\/p>\n<p>Gordon has worked as an attorney at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda and as a human rights prosecutor with the U.S. Department of Justice\u2019s Office of Special Investigations. He currently advises Ukrainian prosecutors on Russian war crimes. In 2025, he received the World of Upstanders Award from World Without Genocide for his work protecting victims of gross human rights violations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The UND School of Law will host a talk on Monday, Feb. 9, by Gregory S.
