Australian Consul-General discusses energy research at UND
Visit to College of Engineering & Mines and EERC coordinated by North Dakota Trade Office

Australian Consul-General Michael Wood paid a visit to UND’s College of Engineering & Mines and the Energy & Environmental Research Center recently to learn more about research each unit is conducting in the field of energy.
The visit, which took place on July 12, was coordinated by the North Dakota Trade Office, with Donavan Johnson, global resource management group, heading up the visit for the trade office.
Wood, along with Holly Jenkins, political-economic officer for the Australian Consulate, were greeted by UND President Mark Kennedy, Engineering College Dean Hesham El-Rewini and EERC CEO Tom Erickson.
The Australian delegation toured Petroleum Engineering labs in CEM’s Collaborative Energy Center before heading over to the EERC to conclude its visit.
Wood is based at the Australian Consulate in Chicago. The Consulate-General works to strengthen Australia’s economic, political and cultural relationships in Chicago and the Midwest region of the United States a major centre of international business and global finance, and a manufacturing and agricultural hub.
He was appointed to the post in April 2015.
