VIDEO 2: A message from the heart about drug abuse

National trends show especially dangerous drugs on the upswing, prompting call from president for care and vigilance

Following his interview with Student Government leaders Faith Wahl and Morgan Masterud, President Armacost takes time to address a separate topic: drug use and its risks to the campus community.

In North Dakota as well as across the nation, cases have been reported of drugs laced with Fentanyl and other deadly substances. Paired with the dangers of addiction, the risks of ingesting unknown substances are increasingly severe, Armacost says.

The president calls for community members to look out for one another and prevent drug-related tragedies from befalling UND. It’s important for all of us to keep our eyes out for activities that don’t meet the standards of our great University, Armacost says.

For those who are struggling with issues of substance abuse and addiction, the University Counseling Center has resources available. Armacost urges people to reach out and seek help there, if needed.

“We care deeply about you, and we expect and hope that you make smart decisions and stay away from these drugs and the narcotics they’re laced with,” Armacost says.
