VIDEO: College Esports at UND

Learn more about UND’s Esports program and degree, the first degree of its kind in North Dakota

Editor’s note: Every few days, UND’s video team uploads a new video to the University’s YouTube channel. So, a visitor to the channel can find literally hundreds of videos, and those are just the ones that have been produced over the past two years.

In this feature, the video team introduces viewers to UND’s College Esports program. The program has three elements: an Esports Major for students wanting to be on the cutting edge of new college degrees; Esports Teams in six games that compete on a national level; and gaming lounges for casual players.

As Esports continues to grow in educational, private and public industries, the need for specially trained individuals is rising. UND’s Esports major prepares students to become educators, coaches, managers, marketers, entrepreneurs, and much more.

UND’s Esports degree, the first degree of its kind in North Dakota, has a sports performance focus. It draws on variety of departments to create an all-inclusive approach.

The Esports Teams currently compete in Call of Duty, League of Legends, Overwatch 2, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros. and Valorant. A new competition space with locker rooms, lounges and study areas will be completed in 2023.
