President Armacost congratulates students, faculty and staff on successful semester ahead of Saturday’s commencement ceremonies

A lot of things have come to fruition at UND as the spring semester comes to a close this week, says President Andrew Armacost in his latest message to campus.

Not only has winter subsided in the past few weeks, but the North Dakota legislative session adjourned at the end of last month. More information is on the way about bills affecting UND, Armacost says.

In thanking the UND community for a great semester, Armacost remarks on the recent Staff Appreciation Luncheon, which annually honors individuals’ years and decades of service to the University’s mission.

And this weekend marks Spring Commencement, which will feature keynote speaker and North Dakota Poet Laureate Denise Lajimodiere as well as Werner Nistler, entrepreneur and UND benefactor, who will receive an honorary degree.

UND’s newest Chester Fritz Distinguished Professors, Steven Light and Kathryn Rand, will also be recognized during Saturday’s proceedings.

“We will honor those four, but the biggest honor goes to all of our students,” Armacost says. “Congratulations to all, we’re proud of you, and we know that you’re going to make a difference in this world.”
