University of North Dakota Vice Provost Karyn Plumm has selected Michael Dodge to serve as interim director of UND’s Honors Program.

Currently, Dodge serves as an associate professor and director of graduate studies in the Department of Space Studies within the John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences.

“I’m pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Dodge as the interim director of the Honors Program,” Plumm said. “His commitment to an interdisciplinary, student-centered approach and his personal experience as an Honors student make him uniquely qualified for this role.

“Prof. Dodge will keep the program running well as we conduct the search for the permanent director.”

Plumm indicated that her office is preparing a search for the next permanent director starting in the fall, and that Dodge’s role will begin July 1, following current director Rebecca Rozelle-Stone’s start as an associate dean with UND’s College of Arts and Sciences. As interim director, Dodge will assume the full responsibilities of leading the Honors Program until a permanent director is selected.

“I am excited to take on the role of interim director for the UND Honors Program” Dodge said.  “Our Honors students are truly exceptional young scholars, with a thirst for knowledge and a drive towards becoming the leaders of the future.  It is my aim to assist these students however I can, alongside the outstanding Honors faculty members.

“As someone who comes from an interdisciplinary background, I’m thrilled to see the enormous diversity of interests of our students, and I hope to continue the growth and success of the Honors Program during my time as interim.”
