President Armacost to lead off 18:83 Speaker Series
New weekly series of talks begins Aug. 30; campus and regional executives will focus on leadership
A new weekly speaker series from UND Student Involvement will kick off with UND President Andrew Armacost at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 30, at the Memorial Union’s first-floor Social Stairs.
The 18:83 Speaker Series – named for UND’s founding year and the length of its talks – will host University and community leaders in a “TED Talk” format to share lessons in leadership.
This student-focused series is scheduled through Oct. 4. The current slate of speakers is below and also available on the Student Involvement website.
All events will be at the same time and place week-to-week.
Aug. 30 – Andrew Armacost, UND president
Sept. 6 – Art Malloy, vice president for student affairs
Sept. 13 – Col. Tim Curry, former commander of Grand Forks Air Force Base
Sept. 20 – Amy Whitney, director of UND Center for Innovation
Sept. 27 – Eric Link, provost and vice president for academic affairs
Oct. 4 – Coiya Tompkins, president and CEO of Community Violence Intervention Center
