VIDEO: Get to know UND’s student leaders

President Armacost hosts on-location interview with Student Government leaders as fall is in full swing

President Armacost chats with UND Student Government leaders Ella Nelson, president, and Connor Ferguson, vice president, for this week’s video message.

Nelson, a biology major and pre-dentistry student from Stillwater, Minn., and Ferguson, an information systems major from Maple Grove, Minn., answer questions from Armacost about choosing UND, what students should look forward to this fall and what the pair hope to accomplish during their tenure.

Student involvement and engagement are priorities for the duo, with Nelson saying that student government is striving for an active presence on campus this year.

Ferguson mentions that he and Nelson each were able to reach different parts of campus through their campaign, and that will serve them in bringing more perspectives to governance.

One of their big-ticket projects is the development of an undergraduate research portal – a means to connect more undergraduate students with research opportunities on campus. Armacost remarks that such engagement can change the trajectory of students’ lives.

Armacost says he’s proud of the pair and their team for stepping up to represent student interests, and that they epitomize the ideals of UND LEADS’ strategic vision.
