How we’ll track progress on ‘Equity’ at UND

Watch this space as UND finds ways to track barrier reduction, relationships with Indigenous communities and other elements of ‘Equity’

Helping people realize their full potential is central to the core value of Equity within the UND LEADS Strategic Plan. This means creating opportunities for success across all dimensions of our institution – and certainly across the plan’s other core values.

Any approach to gauging our progress relative to Equity must account for this important consideration.

So, although there are strategic priorities within the Equity core value whose progress we will want to measure directly, it will also be important to judge progress in the other four core values from an equity-focused perspective. This will require disaggregating those measures to determine whether differences might exist between outcomes or access for different subgroups.

As with the other core values, UND LEADS does not specify the measures we should use or the specific targets we should have for the Equity strategic priorities. The UND LEADS Implementation Team is committed to identifying meaningful approaches to determining where we are at, and thereby informing discussions about our goals and how we can achieve them.

Of course, the work described in this issue of UND Today helps tell the story of UND’s commitment to creating opportunities for success. Upcoming issues will begin to introduce ideas and approaches to gauging our progress through metrics, adding yet another dimension to how we can tell the story of the work of UND LEADS.
