VIDEO: Giving Hearts Day is Feb. 8

Across the region, annual fundraising event impacts hundreds of charities and organizations, including UND

For his latest video message to campus, President Andrew Armacost is joined by Sarah Prout, vice president of Marketing & Communications for the UND Alumni Association & Foundation.

Thursday, Feb. 8, is Giving Hearts Day – an annual, 24-hour day of giving that benefits regional charities and nonprofit organizations.

Established in 2008 by the Dakota Medical Foundation, Giving Hearts Day has raised millions of dollars for more than 500 organizations across northwest Minnesota and North Dakota, Prout says.

At UND, Giving Hearts Day has grown to support all areas of campus, including scholarships, faculty positions and program support.

“The Dakota Medical Foundation looks at this as a day to nurture, educate tomorrow’s leaders, feed the hungry and nurture the elderly; it’s a great opportunity to participate in your community,” Prout says.

People can give on Feb. 8, but can also pre-give by going to go.UNDalumni.org/GHD.

Armacost urges the campus community to consider this opportunity to give back and adds that donations will further contribute to the Forever UND fundraising campaign.
