Interim deans named for School of Graduate Studies and School of Law
Soojung Kim and Bradley Myers selected to lead School of Graduate Studies and School of Law, respectively, on interim appointments

The University of North Dakota has named interim deans for the School of Graduate Studies and School of Law, and formal searches for finding permanent deans are being put in place, UND Provost Eric Link has announced.
Soojung Kim, associate professor and chair in the Department of Communication, started May 5 as interim dean of the School of Graduate Studies. Bradley Myers, Randy H. Lee Professor of Law and associate dean for Academic Affairs & Administration, is set to become interim dean of the School of Law on July 1.

Soojung Kim named interim dean of UND School of Graduate Studies

UND Provost Eric Link has selected Soojung Kim, associate professor and chair in the Department of Communication, as the interim dean of the School of Graduate Studies. Kim has worked in the College of Arts & Sciences since 2015.
“Dr. Soojung Kim has been a highly regarded and accomplished leader at the University of North Dakota for a number of years,” Link said. “She will bring a wealth of experience and insight into the role of interim dean of the School of Graduate Studies.
“Her work chairing the Department of Communication at UND, and her work as graduate program director in the department, have been marked by vision, strategy and a dedication to student success and opportunity. I look forward to working with her in the coming year as she leads the School of Graduate Studies forward.”
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Provost Link and the colleagues who have placed their trust in me,” said Kim.
“It is truly an honor to have the opportunity to lead the School of Graduate Studies at UND, especially following our achievement of R1 status,” she continued. “I look forward to working closely with colleagues across the campus and serving our graduate students to the best of my ability.”
Kim will serve until the permanent dean is named and in place. The search process to select the next dean of the School of Graduate Studies will start in the fall.
About Soojung Kim
Soojung Kim received an M.A. and Ph.D. in Mass Communication from the University of Minnesota, an M.P.H. from the University of North Dakota, and a B.A. in Mass Communication and Psychology from Korea University.
A leader in interdisciplinary education and strategic program development, Kim has led the launch of UND’s first online Ph.D. in Communication and a professional online M.A. program, including a 4+1 accelerated track, as well as the revival of the B.A. in Journalism. Her administrative leadership included oversight of several undergraduate and graduate degree and certificate programs, major curricular initiatives and alumni engagement efforts. As a public health communication scholar, Kim has led and collaborated on multiple externally funded research projects that address critical public health challenges in North Dakota.
Bradley Myers named interim dean of UND School of Law

UND Provost Eric Link has selected Bradley Myers, associate dean for Academic Affairs & Administration and Randy H. Lee Professor of Law, as the interim dean for the University of North Dakota School of Law. Myers has been a faculty member at UND since 2001.
“We are thrilled that Professor Myers will be stepping into the role of interim dean for the School of Law,” Link said. “He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge into the position, having served in several key executive leadership roles in the school for many years, including serving a prior term as interim dean in the 2018-19 academic year.
“His steady leadership, keen sense of humor and outstanding administrative skills will prove invaluable as the School of Law continues to grow and excel, preparing the next generation of highly trained lawyers, judges and legal professionals.”
“Under the leadership of Dean (Brian) Pappas, the School of Law has begun implementing some exciting new initiatives,” Myers said. “I look forward to joining with the faculty and staff as we finalize the work we have begun and identify new projects to benefit our students and the practice of law in North Dakota.”
Myers will assume his new duties on July 1, 2025, and will serve until the permanent dean is named and in place. The School of Law dean search is currently underway, and the committee is being assisted by executive search firm Academic Search. It is anticipated that the next permanent dean for the School of Law will be named by mid-October.
About Bradley Myers
Bradley Myers became a Fellow of the American College of Trust & Estate Counsel in 2017. Former North Dakota Gov. John Hoeven named him one of North Dakota’s Commissioners to the Uniform Law Commission in 2007, and Myers has served on several drafting committees for Uniform Acts in the Trusts & Estates area. As a faculty member, Myers teaches courses in Trusts & Estates for the School of Law.
Myers formerly practiced law in the states of Nevada, California and Oregon, with his practice focused primarily in tax, business and estate planning with a special focus on issues surrounding the development of low-income housing. He received B.S. and M.S. degrees in Kinesiology from the University of California, Los Angeles. Myers then spent two years at the University of California, Davis, doing postgraduate research in avian respiratory control.
Myers received his J.D. from the University of Oregon. He served on the editorial staff of the Oregon Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif. He continued his training at New York University, earning an LL.M. in Taxation.
