‘It’s Frozen Four week and we are not calm about it’

Watch parties from coast to coast, including on the Memorial Union’s Social Stair, will reflect the excitement of the UND Instagram quote above

That’s a post on UND’s Instagram account, and it captures the energy rippling out from the UND campus to electrify alumni and friends in communities across America.

On Thursday, April 9, the day the UND hockey team squares off in Las Vegas against Wisconsin in the Frozen Four semifinal, that excitement will be evident at the watch parties being organized from Washington state to Washington, D.C. One of the biggest and most spirited of these will be taking place on the UND campus itself. “Join the Watch Party this Thursday to cheer on @UNDmhockey as they battle Wisconsin,” as the post on UND’s Instagram account instructs.

The gathering will take place at 4 p.m. on Thursday on the Memorial Union’s Social Stairs. “Free food,” the post continues, in a line of text highlighted by a pizza-slice icon.

The Facebook page of the UND Alumni Association & Foundation features a long and fast-growing list of similar gatherings around the country. “Frozen Four Watch Party/Tarpon Springs, Fla.,” reads one post, listing an address on U.S. Highway 19 North in the Sunshine State. “Hopkins, Minn.,” reads another with its own set of details, and “Port Washington, N.Y.,” reads a third.

In addition, UND fans who travel to Las Vegas for the tournament can join a pregame party from 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m at Tom’s Watch Bar, 3790 S Las Vegas Blvd. “Show up loud and proud in your favorite green gameday gear and help create a home-ice atmosphere,” the announcement of UND’s Event Calendar reads. “No registration necessary. All ages are welcome!”
