Whether she\u2019s working in Antarctica, fighting fires out West or metalworking in Grand Forks, Trudy Schunck turns visions into reality<\/strong><\/p>\n

After starting a degree in natural resources nearly 20 years ago, Trudy Schunck is at UND to finish what she started. Her interlude began with fighting fire.<\/p>\n

For almost a decade, she spent the summer months in the American West, protecting resources in nearly every state. She\u2019s been putting her knowledge into action from the beginning.<\/p>\n

In the heat of a burning summer, one of Trudy\u2019s firefighting friends told her about an opportunity to work at the South Pole in the winter months.<\/p>\n
