What: <\/strong>Disability Awareness Day<\/p>\n

When: <\/strong>Monday, March 17, from 9 a.m. to noon<\/p>\n

Where: <\/strong>Second floor of the Memorial Union<\/p>\n

Background:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Members of the UND and Greater community are welcome to attend Disability Awareness Day on Monday, March 17, from 9 a.m. to noon in the Memorial Union.<\/p>\n

The event, now in its second year, provides a forum for people to gain a better understanding of disability and interact with professionals in that field. UND students conducting research into different aspects of disability will also be on hand to explain their projects.<\/p>\n

\u201cDisability Awareness Day is all about focusing on the impact of disability in the community, both on campus and off,\u201d said Lee Ann Rawlins Williams, clinical assistant professor of Education, Health & Behavior,<\/a><\/strong> and the event\u2019s organizer. \u201cThis day offers a chance for us to come together and have meaningful conversations that foster understanding of the impact disability has on people’s lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

The event is being presented by the Inclusive Rehabilitation Sciences<\/a> <\/strong>program, which is located within UND\u2019s College of Education & Human Development.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

People attending the event can interact with students who will be giving poster presentations of their research projects. Attendees are encouraged to interact with the presenters and ask questions about the projects. Several other UND student groups will also attend the event.<\/p>\n

Several groups from the greater Grand Forks Community will also be in attendance this year, including the North Dakota Brain Injury Network, the LISTEN Center, North Dakota Association for the Disabled, and several others. In total, more than 40 student and professional groups will attend the event.<\/p>\n

People coming from off campus can park in the ramp at the corner of University Avenue and North Columbia Road. Parking is available on the first floor of the ramp, and visitors will need to use the Passport parking app or website. More information about Passport parking can be found on the Campus Services website.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n
