{"id":44545,"date":"2025-09-30T16:44:45","date_gmt":"2025-09-30T21:44:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.und.edu\/und-today\/?p=44545"},"modified":"2025-09-30T16:44:14","modified_gmt":"2025-09-30T21:44:14","slug":"video-introducing-unds-student-leaders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.und.edu\/und-today\/2025\/09\/video-introducing-unds-student-leaders\/","title":{"rendered":"VIDEO: Introducing UND\u2019s student leaders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>President Armacost interviews UND Student Government leaders Jonathan Blankenship and Joslyn Sutton<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"President Message 9\/30\/25: Meet the UND student leaders\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/1122937377?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>President Andrew Armacost interviews UND\u2019s Student Government leaders for\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/1122937377\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this week\u2019s video<\/a><\/strong>, talking with President Jonathan Blankenship and Vice President Joslyn Sutton.<\/p>\n<p>The two juniors introduce themselves to the campus community and answer questions from the president on what they\u2019re working on this year.<\/p>\n<p>Armacost asks what it feels like to preside over the biggest student body in UND\u2019s history: 15,844 students, as of last week\u2019s census.<\/p>\n<p>Blankenship, an Honors student studying Commercial Aviation and Unmanned Aircraft Systems Operations, says he is honored and humbled to have the opportunity to lead \u2014 though it\u2019s \u201cstill sinking in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He adds that he and Sutton ran on a \u201cVoice for All\u201d platform, with \u201cvoice\u201d serving as an acronym for vision, opportunity, involvement, community and empowerment.<\/p>\n<p>Sutton, who\u2019s studying Air Traffic Management, Atmospheric Sciences and Space Studies, talks about her role supporting Blankenship and heading the Student Senate, as well as ongoing efforts to promote safety.<\/p>\n<p>Their team is working on a \u201cSafe Ride\u201d program that provides students with a free ride home, especially on the weekends, as well as a partnership to provide cup stickers to students that deter beverage spiking.<\/p>\n<p>Those interested in connecting with UND Student Government can find information\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/und.edu\/student-life\/student-government\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">on the UND website<\/a><\/strong>, as well as by following the office\u2019s Instagram page,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/undstugov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@UNDstugov<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Blankenship asks UND\u2019s president about how to work on leadership skills, and Armacost advises students to observe the leaders around them and discover their own leadership styles through opportunities in the classroom and on campus.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LEARNING strategic priority: \u2018Promote experiences that expand horizons even as they build skills\u2019<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":15,"featured_media":44546,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[1125],"class_list":["post-44545","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-around-und","tag-learning"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.8 -
