May 2022

Wellness Spotlight

It’s that time of year where deadlines are piling up and there doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day to complete everything, let alone have time for friends and family!

When we do not have the time for these important connections, we can become more impulsive, more anxious, and less resilient. This could lead to further feelings of loneliness, isolation, and depression. As these feelings build up it can be hard to reach out for help.

Each year millions of Americans face the reality of living with a mental illness, and May is National Mental Health Awareness Month. While 1 in 5 people will experience a mental illness in their lifetime, the everyday challenges that you faces can have a big impact on your mental health. National Mental Health Awareness Month is focused on making mental health support accessible to everyone who needs them, and ending the stigma around mental health.

In May's Wellness Spotlightyou will learn how getting in touch with people you care about can impact you and ideas to get in touch with these people.

Work Well started a new campaign called 'GRIT Worthy Glow-Ups' to share positive, uplifting quotes that are aimed at creating a ‘glow-up’-esque current throughout campus. If we can make a wave with one person that creates a positive influence on another person, a domino effect has essentially ensued – spreading resiliency and grit – one quote at a time, to bring smiles and some much deserved light-heartedness throughout campus. So get ready to glow-up UND! Check it out on Facebook, Instagram, and campus digital displays!
